I have been a Sydney-sider for 3 years now and am embarrassed to say that I have never visited Taronga Zoo!!  Considering I’m a massive animal person – this is very slack.  Full disclosure: I’m that crazy dog lady that will be talking to the animals in the corner at a party and sharing my food with them.

Kai and I decided to attend Celebrate Sydney and ring in the New Year at the Taronga Centre.  What a magical night!  The view was spectacular!  We were located smack bang in the middle of all 4 fireworks locations, with uninterrupted harbour views.  I was like a little kid seeing the display for the first time!!

As you will see from the photos, the food was epic.  Kai is a MASSIVE foodie and I’ve never seen him so full and content (piggy!). The entrees & desserts were served down the centre of the table on share platters with enough food to feed a football team.  Mains were served individually with my last minute food requirements being no problem for the kitchen! (I am very difficult – ha, ha)  I heard the wine was well matched to the food with excellent champas to cheers to the New Year.  Usually I would be readily sampling the drinks but decided to drive this year as I’m on my usual ‘New Year Health Kick.’

Now onto the entertainment – the band was amazing, beginning the evening with relaxing cover songs and then reappearing later to rock out some dance tunes.  It’s a very talented group who can cover both genres so seamlessly.  Intermissions were covered by an energetic DJ. In addition, the crowd pleasing Photo Booth was ever popular!

2016 was a HUGE year for me and I can’t wait to see what 2017 has in store for me.  I wish you all a happy & healthy New Year.
